THE JOURNAL

I'm a hopeless romantic who finds great joy in creating and capturing connection and beauty wherever I go.

About Details

They say a picture speaks a thousand words. When you’re photographing the most important moments of your life, you want every word that you’re feeling in that moment to be captured within a frame. You need to be at the right angle. The light needs to fall a certain way. The colors need to be illuminated so you’ll never forget how blue the sky was that day; So you’ll always be reminded of how beautiful the world is.

Well, here’s the thing. They also say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So, if you’re having your picture taken… it seems pretty important that the person observing and transcribing that moment, sees the beauty. That’s where I come in.

My name is Charity Hope Williams-Ogunba. I graduated from RI College with a BSN in Community + Public Health, + ended up marrying my best friend from college. I love my husband, my three kids (one on the way!), + Jesus more than anything. I’m always up for outdoor adventures, keeping things simple, and eating sushi on the regular. I am heavily involved in my local church; leading people in song’s of worship, and do my best to serve everyone I come in contact with. It is my heart + I believe God’s heart, to see everyone made whole; in body, soul, and spirit. I believe in strengthening and building diverse community. I believe that images are the way to preserve and spread ideas and moments of beauty that will inspire the world. In a society that heavily values independence, it is more important than ever that we spread reinforcement for love and fellowship by sharing our stories. In this way, we give the people around us hope and strength by bringing people of all cultures + backgrounds closer together.

I know that pictures not only bring people together but they have the power to keep people alive in a sense. After losing my father as an infant, photos were all I had left of him and they have meant the world to me. Growing up, I always knew the importance of savoring every moment and locking away the most brilliant seconds in my camera for safe-keeping; it was second nature for me. With time, and through my genuine love for all people, I have been able to authentically snatch up millions of beautiful moments and magnify the unique beauty that each person possesses when they are, simply, who they are. I am continuously told how comfortable people feel when they are with me and how they feel they’ve known me their entire life. It’s only too fortunate then, that I truly feel a connection with everyone I meet and my job consists of packaging up their story into a timeless manifestation that won’t ever fade away. I’m too blessed.

I’m also insanely blessed that love and marriage is such a big part of what I photograph, as I believe in spreading the image of healthy marriage, in all aspects. Sacrificial love does exist and I want to show that not only in my work, but also in my own life. However, as Im a firm believer in showing rather than telling (it’s the nature of the business ;), and keeping it real, so I encourage you to get to know me through my blog or my instagram. Just see for yourself!

I see each person for their true inner beauty and I pride myself on being able to not only bring that out of you, but to be able to show everyone your heart and soul in the pictures I take. I love what I do and I want all my clients to feel confident that I will take the stress out of what should be the least of your worries. All you have to do is be yourself, have fun, and I’ll handle the rest. You’ll be surprised how much beauty you have to share with the world and I promise to capture every word of it, even if we go over a thousand.
